Blessing of the Animals
Sunday, October 13, 2024, 10:00 AM
As our St. Paul's celebration of the Season of Creation comes to a close, we will gather at the 10 a.m. worship service (and directly after) on Sunday, October 13th to bless the animals in our lives!
Each year we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis (October 4) with a special celebration of the beloved pets in our lives on a Sunday in the month of October. This year we will bless animals on the day that we also conclude our month-long celebration of the Season of Creation.
St. Francis is known for his connection to animals and the environment and our worship inspired by this Feast makes room to celebrate this!
You are welcome to bring any animals with you to join you for the entire 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, October 13th and we we will bless them during the service.
In addition, we will also offer a blessing in the church yard following the church service (starting around 11:15 a.m.) - so if you want to come to church and then zip home to get your beloved pet for a blessing, you will have plenty of time. This is a good option for pets who are not able to sit through a worship service comfortably or for pets who might be highly allergenic to others.
We also encourage you to bring photographs of your pets who need to remain at home or any beloved deceased pets for a special prayer. Plush "stuffies" and other beloved toy pets are also welcome for a blessing!
