Supporting Refugees and Migrants Arriving in Massachusetts
As part of our baptismal covenant, we promise to ‘strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being’. In response to the recent increase in the number of migrants and refugees arriving in Massachusetts this year, the St. Paul’s Outreach Committee voted to distribute a total of $4,000 to local organizations providing refugee resettlement services in the state. Thank you again to everyone who pledged generously to build this type of response into our operating church budget.
The following organizations received our support this month (October 2022):
International Institute of New England - The IINE operates in Boston, Lowell and Manchester and supports refugees by assisting with securing housing, enrolling children in school, connecting arrivals with community services, healthcare and employment opportunities.
Refugee and Immigration Assistance Center (Boston, Lynn, Worcester) has been
providing resettlement services to hundreds of refugees each year. They greet refugees on arrival, assist with finding housing and furnishing, provide support finding and enrolling in English classes, school and employment programs.Tags: Events / Outreach Committee / Faith in Action / Faith & Justice Ministries
